Over the next ten years the ETI will select, commission, fund, and manage the delivery of technology programmes. Funds will be invested in a small number of key technology areas with the greatest promise for deployment on the basis of their projected contribution to low carbon, secure energy supplies.
The "key technology areas" are ETI Programmes, which are made up of a portfolio of projects. For more information, please see our Technology Strategy page.
Our first three Programmes - Offshore Wind, Marine and Distributed Energy - were launched by a public invitation for Expressions of Interest. Going forward, we intend to engage participants in projects in the way that is most appropriate to the Programme; we will not have one standard approach. Our Programmes are ambitious and large-scale; you may also see a phased approach to the creation of projects. Our overall aim is to accelerate development of projects.
We aim to work with the best academics, systems and technology groups of all sizes, worldwide, to develop low-carbon technologies for initial commercial deployment in the UK.
